The Supreme Master Ching Hai
Supreme Master Ching Hai offered Her heartfelt support and respectful congratulations in a letter sent to President-elect Van der Bellen, elected as President of Austria on December 4, Golden Year 13 (2016).
President Van der Bellen had the support of the Green Party, and is the second green president in world history. His Excellency was a leader of the Green Party from 1997-2008, during which time the party became the fourth largest in Austria.
During his presidential campaign, His Excellency emphasized freedom, equality and solidarity. He pledged to use his six-year tenure as president to represent all people of Austria, stating in his victory speech that he will “serve the land and all its people.” His positive views towards the future integration of refugees and migrants in Europe can be summed up in his post-election statement in which he referred to the colors of the Austrian flag: “A red, white and red signal of hope and of positive change is being beamed from Vienna through Europe. I will be a pro-European president of Austria open to the world.”
