The Supreme Master Ching Hai

“Lands in Love Hotel & Resort,” or Tierras Enamoradas, is an animal shelter and holiday resort for humans established by a group of Israelis in Costa Rica. Tucked away in a hidden valley of the 113-hectare San Lorenzo Cloud Forest, it is an environmental and animal-friendly zone that has been rescuing and providing loving care for all kinds of animals for over 25 years.
The 15 co-owners joined together to create a haven to share their humane way of life, love for the wilderness and the spirit of adventure with those who have similar ideals. Their first mission was to establish a place where animals who need loving, long-term or permanent shelter could thrive. The no-kill rescue center is funded by proceeds earned from running the hotel as well as the resort’s guided tour operation and activity center.
Before moving to Central America from Israel, the owners all loved animals, but not all of them were vegetarian. However, very shortly after arriving in Costa Rica, they all became vegan after learning more about the cruelty involved in the production of dairy and eggs.
The center currently cares for 350 adorable canines that have been regretfully abandoned, abused, or injured. Some special-needs dogs who cannot use their hind legs have been fitted with wheelchairs. There are also cats, geese, ducks, chickens, horses, goats, fish and others that live here too.
Every day the assistants provide nutritious food, clean water, and other items to ensure the animal residents’ health, hygiene and well-being. In addition, the animal pals have a daily free-run time and receive routine health checks from the veterinarian. Furthermore, when an animal finishes their life’s journey, they hold a simple memorial service and remember them with beautifully decorated stones at their resting place.
Currently, Lands in Love is building a veterinary clinic to save and assist more animals, as well as help people who have little or no money and are seeking treatment for their animal companions.
For Lands in Love’s Animal Love Rescue Center’s gentle care of all the beautiful animal residents, Supreme Master Ching Hai contributed US$30,000 “to support this noble work, with all love and gratitude to all involved, whose help created this Heaven for the helpless but loving and kind animals. In God’s blessing.”
On September 20, 2018, a Member of our Association in Costa Rica delivered Master’s loving contribution and Her various publications to the owners of Lands in Love. The group of people from Lands in Love received the donation with great enthusiasm, joy and gratitude. In a heart-warming thank-you letter to Master, they wrote,
“We all feel that we found a new friend and You Supreme Master, and Your people, will always be part of Lands in Love family. Thank you, Supreme Master, for your help in our everyday struggling to survive and for our work to make this world a better place to live.”
As the name implies, Lands in Love is indeed a site full of love for animals and humans. We appreciate the owners providing this welcome oasis of compassion in the forest for people and our animal friends. They are compassion and kindness in action!
