On December 12, Golden Year 13 (2016), the Right Honourable Bill English was selected to be New Zealand’s new prime minister.
Prime Minister English holds degrees in both commerce and literature, and has been serving the public through his work in parliament since 1990. As finance minister in his previous position, he helped manage the economy towards a budget surplus of NZD 1.83 billion for the June 2015-June 2016 financial year, which will now be used to upgrade the country’s infrastructure, pay down debt and help rebuild communities after the Kaikoura earthquake.
After being selected for the new role, Prime Minister English stated, “As Prime Minister, I will be committed to building a New Zealand which rewards hard work and enterprise and which cares for our most vulnerable.”
Supreme Master Ching Hai sent the above letter to the Right Honourable Bill English to convey Her respectful congratulations on his appointment, and Her blessings and best wishes.
