Al Larson, Bluebird Protector Dedicated to Saving Precious Lives

By Los Angeles, USA News Group (Originally in English)

Bluebirds symbolize wealth and prosperity and are also seen as spiritual messengers that herald joy and prosperity. In North America, due in part to increasing nesting competition from other species, these little birds declined in population between the 1950s and 1970s. Fortunately, there have been some people who worked tirelessly to help the species recover. In southwest Idaho, United States, lives 96-years-young Al Larson, lovingly known as the “Bluebird Man.” Al was one of the first citizen scientists to dedicate time and effort to preserving these precious birds.

Upon learning of his amazing life-work, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai cheerfully presented Mr. Al Larson with the “Shining World Compassion Award”, plus US$15,000 for his love filled noble work in God’s mercy. Members from The Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association from Los Angeles, California, flew out to interview and present the Award and donation to Mr. Larson, on May 28, 2019.

We hit the Oreana Trail located in Owyhee County, with Al Larson and five other members of the Golden Eagle Audubon Society (GEAS) to witness firsthand, the loving devotion shown to protect the bluebirds. One member of the party was the director of the Emmy award-nominated documentary, “The Bluebird Man,” Matthew Podolsky. He spent four years on the documentary and was kind enough to help facilitate the Award presentation in front of Mr. Larson’s peers during the local meeting of GEAS. Over 20 members were in attendance during the presentation which was followed by a viewing of “The Bluebird Man.” The next day, Mr. Podolsky also graciously sat down with us to do an interview highlighting his environmental efforts via his non-profit video production company: Wild Lens Inc.

Various people at the meeting and Award presentation were in awe of Supreme Master Ching Hai taking note of Al Larson’s efforts, from halfway around the world, and making the spiritual connection to the conservation efforts. Moreover, many browsed through the display set up to view Supreme Master Ching Hai’s books and DVDs as well as other material such as the Alternative Living flyer.

Mr. Larson says, “I enjoy the sounds, the wind in the trees. I’ve had a curiosity, a passion for wildlife. That’s sort of been a religion for me; it’s just what I believe in, what I want to be part of.” He also expressed his immense gratitude to Supreme Master Ching Hai:

“I just want to thank the Supreme Master for the attention that She has given to my endeavors.” “I guess all I can say is thank you, again! It’s something that I had never ever dreamed of.”

We also thank Mr. Al Larson for his decades of care and compassion for these native birds with their beautiful blue plumage. We are privileged to have this opportunity to share Master’s abundant Love and Blessings with saintly souls like Al Larson.
