His Excellency David Granger was elected president of the South American nation of Guyana on May 16, Golden Year 12 (2015) as part of a six-party coalition government, which he affirmed as a victory for national unity.
President Granger won the election on a platform that pledged to boost solidarity and unity among races and enhance national development for the benefit of all. His Excellency has highlighted a vision for establishing a social contract to enhance economic growth in the country to increase prosperity, and enable his co-citizens to have better lives. To bring about his vision, he has brought together various sectors of society, including businesses, trade unions, political parties and members of civil society to help develop the social contract. Furthermore, he has established a goal of creating jobs for youth through micro-enterprise, and stated that it is imperative for Guyana to have a strong labor movement. President Granger has also outlined goals for improving social cohesion and relationships with various religious groups, trade unions and civil society, and making the country safer for all.
In a commendation letter to President Granger on the occasion of his election, Supreme Master Ching Hai applauded his agenda and prayed for Heaven’s blessings for His Excellency and the lovely nation of Guyana.
