The Supreme Master Ching Hai

Upon receiving a letter from His Excellency Archbishop Emeritus Diosdado A. Talamayan, D.D. and learning that the Parish Church of Saint Rose of Lima in Tuguegarao City, Philippines was in need of support to finish ongoing improvement projects, Supreme Master Ching Hai made a generous contribution of US$200,000 in August 2016. The parish is situated in an economically challenged community and often serves as an evacuation center in times of floods, which frequent the area during the typhoon season.
In his letter, His Excellency Archbishop Emeritus Diosdado A. Talamayan, D.D. fondly recalled Master’s previous contributions* to the Catholic bishop and priest communities in Tuguegarao and wrote, “Divine providence once again sent you to us as we continue our partnership to develop a world of peace, love and sharing.”
Receiving Master’s fund, the parish priest of Saint Rose of Lima, Reverend Fredel Agatep, responded, “We thank you for being an instrument of heaven for sharing God’s love and blessings. We will send photos later of projects which were accomplished through the Supreme Master Ching Hai’s benevolence.”
In February 2017, Reverend Fredel Agatep sent the following updates on the projects of Saint Rosa of Lima Parish:
After Super Typhoon Haima (Lawin) devastated the Province of Cagayan last October 19, 2016, many people lost their roofs; the Parish Rectory and chapels were not spared. The financial assistance given by the Supreme Master Ching Hai that came ahead of time helped in the rehabilitation and relief operations, so much needed by our people. For this, we are so grateful.
We are happy to report the following projects, which were accomplished with the generous contribution from the Supreme Master Ching Hai:
1. Repair of the damaged St. Rose of Lima Parish Hall and Rectory in Barangay Annafunan West, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. The rectory is located at the ground floor and now serves as the residence of the parish priest. The second floor serves as a multipurpose hall of the parish. During floods and typhoons, it serves as an evacuation center.
2. The construction of the Linao Chapel and Evacuation Center for victims of natural disasters in Barangay Linao West, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. This village is frequently flooded since it is the catch basin of the city. Through the initiative of the parish priest, an elevated evacuation center with a kitchen and restrooms was constructed near the chapel.
3. Repair of the roof and ceiling of St. Francis Chapel that Typhoon Lawin destroyed in Atulayan, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
4. As an immediate response to the needs of the victims of Typhoon Lawin, the Parish of St. Rose of Lima distributed galvanized iron sheets to disadvantaged people who were roofless. The parish priest ordered the distribution of relief goods and converted the Parish Hall into an evacuation center to shelter and feed the evacuees.
These projects and programs were funded by the generous contribution of the Supreme Master Ching Hai. Super Typhoon Haima (Lawin) taught our people a great lesson: to take care of the environment is to take care of one another. We are full of gratitude that the Supreme Master Ching Hai continues to inspire people all over the world to take care of our planet. Her message of peace, love and compassion will always be cherished by our people.

Reverend Fredel Agatep also wrote that His Excellency Archbishop Emeritus Diosdado A. Talamayan, D.D will use a small portion of Master’s contribution for the maintenance of the priests’ Retirement House and for the care of sick and aging priests.
