Supreme Master Ching Hai offered Her heartfelt support and congratulations in a letter sent to Peru’s President-elect Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, who was voted into office on June 5, Golden Year 13 (2016).
An Oxford-educated politician, economist and investment banker, His Excellency shared that seeing his father work in some of the most underprivileged parts of the country inspired his dedication to equality. Therefore, he pledged to work for all Peruvians, and in his inaugural speech stated the goal of improving equality in his nation within five years.
His Excellency Mr. Kuczynski served as an executive of the World Bank and held a number of ministerial offices, as well as being a prime minister of Peru. In 2007 he founded the NGO Agua Limpia (Clean Water), which helps provide drinking water and sanitation systems to vulnerable areas. During his presidency, His Excellency will continue endeavors towards making drinking water more accessible, and will also work on providing more support to teachers and schools, as well as to farmers. Furthermore, Mr.Kuczynski is committed to reducing taxes and increasing the minimum wage. His efforts will also go beyond his country to improve international relations, including relations with Chile. In November of 2016, he announced the start of joint cabinets with Bolivia, Chile, Colombia and Ecuador to establish economic and commercial agreements, and to benefit the nation’s citizens.
In August 2016, President Kuczynski participated in a rally with an estimated 50,000 Peruvians against gender violence, and has proposed plans to enhance current domestic abuse laws. His administration also expanded service at five crisis centers.
Supreme Master Ching Hai sent the above letter lauding His Excellency’s noble ideals and praiseworthy efforts.
