By United Kingdom News Group (Originally in English)

Supreme Master Ching Hai has been a strong supporter of International Animal Rescue (IAR), a United Kingdom-based charity organization dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating suffering animals. Over the years, Master has contributed a total of US$40,000 to the organization, and honored IAR with the Shining World Compassion Award. (For details, refer to Here.)

In the early part of Golden Year 13 (2016), Mr. Robin Fegan, the Development Director of IAR, sent Master a letter of urgent appeal through our Surrey, United Kingdom Association members, in which he wrote, “We currently care for over 350 sloth bears in three sanctuaries across India, and we desperately need support so that we can provide the veterinary support, enrichment and the loving care to ensure that these bears can continue to live a safe and peaceful life.” Upon receiving the appeal, Master quickly offered another US$15,000 on March 6 to the organization.

Expressing deep gratitude for Master’s generous gift, Mr. Fegan wrote in a letter of appreciation,

“Sloth bears are still captured and transported to Nepal and Pakistan where this ghastly practice of bear dancing continues, and bears parts are also used for medicines in Southeast Asia. Your support for the bears is so important, and helps us with our commitment to the lifelong care of all the bears in our sanctuaries, and will continue to provide them with the best possible welfare.”

May Heaven bless our precious sloth bear friends, and all the loving animals of the Earth with lives of happiness, peace and security. Our heartfelt appreciation, International Animal Rescue, for your enduring noble work to protect and nurture our treasured animal co-inhabitants.
