Sharing Animal Stories and Photographs from The Noble Wilds at Chun-Rih Elementary School in Hualien County, Formosa

By Hualien News Team, Formosa (Originally in Chinese)

On Thanksgiving weekend in November of Golden Year 12 (2015), our Association members visited Chun-Rih Elementary, an aborigine tribal school in a remote town of Hualien County, Formosa. At the school, we held a class for the students where we sang Master’s songs, told stories and showcased photographs from Master’s book The Noble Wilds.*

Previously in 2014, Ms. Chang, a teacher at Chun-Rih Elementary School, took the students to visit The Noble Wilds photo exhibition sponsored by Love Ocean Creative International Company Ltd. in Hualien Railway Culture Park. She was very supportive of the idea of promoting veganism/vegetarianism, and protecting our animal co-inhabitants. As the school organizes all kinds of classes during the holidays, Ms. Chang invited us to tell animal stories to the students.

When we entered Chun-Rih Elementary School, which is surrounded by picturesque nature, the lovely school children and a big black dog came to warmly greet us.

One of our international Association members who teaches English in Formosa acted as our main speaker for the class we called “Amoura Stories.” The class started by listening to a recording of Master’s melodious voice singing Her song describing the joy of returning to the Original Universe. Using hand-drawn pictures, our Association member told a story entitled “A Boy and a Fish Named Nemo,” and then introduced the story “Fish: The Mysterious” from Master’s book The Noble Wilds. In the relaxing, happy and heartwarming atmosphere, the children enjoyed the stories imparting the important message that the lives of animals are very precious.

At the end of the class, our Association member and the children sang from their hearts Master’s song “Good Night Baby.”** Their beautiful voices filled the classroom with a blessed energy. One child asked shyly if he could have a copy of Master’s song. He wished to learn the song so he could sing it to the stray dogs at school every day.

We also brought gifts for the students. The most popular ones were stickers printed with cartoon figures of the beautiful birds featured in Master’s book The Birds in My Life, the Alternative Living flyers and vegan recipes.

The principal of Chun-Rih Elementary School, Mr. Sun Ping-Peng, came to the classroom to view the photo exhibition featuring photographs from The Noble Wilds, which we had set up for the class. He was also very touched after listening to the introduction of this amazing book.

After the class, teachers and the students and parents came outside to enjoy a vegan feast under the trees. Many of the children’s mothers told us they wanted to learn how to cook vegan cuisine. We were touched by their enthusiasm and sincerity.

Heading home, we felt happy that the messages of cherishing animals and adopting a vegan lifestyle had been shared with the families at this school. We pray that the seeds of the peaceful vegan lifestyle will soon sprout and bear fruits in this area.
