On June 7, 2016, following Supreme Master Ching Hai’s instructions to bring love and help to those in need, one of our Paris Association members traveled 100 kilometers to Souppes-sur-Loing, France, one of the cities that was hardest hit by the recent flood that is among the worst in more than 100 years. Some people were saved by small boats or even by helicopter, as water reached a peak of 1.9 meters above the usual level. Many houses and properties were severely flooded and damaged.
When our Association member arrived, water had receded and the mayor of the city had made arrangements for those whose houses were destroyed. Our team member offered to help people cleaning until late in the night. The next day, he continued going from house to house to extend a helping hand. The afflicted people were overjoyed to have his help, and very touched to hear that he was not from Souppes-sur-Loing, but from Paris. He talked to them about our organization and Master’s teachings, and gave them flyers about the Quan Yin Method of meditation. People were so happy and touched by Master’s love.
A week later, our Paris Association members contributed EUR 507 and contacted the town hall of Souppes-sur-Loing to identify the needs of the affected people. Four of our team members returned to the city in the early morning of June 18 to help clean and to distribute some non-perishable vegan food items purchased from the only supermarket in the city. We asked the owner of a house if we could help empty and clean her ground floor, and then worked nonstop for six hours. The lady told us: “I prayed to God for help. He heard me. He sent me four angels to help me.”
In heavy rain, we distributed 30 boxes of vegan food. The people were very touched by this act, often with tears in their eyes. We listened to their experiences and tried to convey Master’s love and sympathy in return.
