Love In Action

Master is always deeply concerned when disasters occur in any part of the world. Upon hearing news of such events, She immediately provides financial assistance and sends relief teams. Through such efforts, Her unconditional love and support are conveyed to those affected, thus reducing their suffering while helping them to rebuild their lives.

In recognition of the selfless actions of governments, organizations and relief workers around the globe, Master expresses Her gratitude as follows: "Thank you, all the international help that brings care and necessities to afflicted victims. Thank you all the relief workers for taking time and forsaking your own comfort, even traveling great distance on unfavorable roads and conditions to bring love and assistance to people in a time of need. May Heaven bless you abundantly for your generosity and noble sacrifice."

Sending Wildfire Relief Help for Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada

By Canada Relief Team (Originally in English)

The wildfire broke out on May 1, 2016, in Fort McMurray and ravaged almost 590,000 hectares across northern Alberta, Canada, resulting in the evacuation of approximately 94,000 citizens and destroying or damaging over 2,400 homes and buildings. It is reported to be the costliest disaster in Canadian history.

To support emergency aid, Supreme Master Ching Hai kindly contributed CAD 10,875.37 (US$7,854.18). In response to Master’s instructions to assist those in need, a team of five of our Association members from the Edmonton, Alberta Center and the Vancouver, British Columbia Center went to several evacuation centers in Lac La Biche, Edmonton, and Calgary, Alberta to find out the immediate requirements of those affected.

Located in the small rural community of Lac La Biche, the Bold Center was the first, the largest and the closest evacuation center to the disaster area, and was established right after the governmental mandatory evacuation order. The center had a very limited capacity to facilitate the great number of evacuees, which dramatically increased on a daily basis during the first three weeks after the wildfires.

Upon learning that daily necessities were in high demand at Bold Center, our team delivered various vegan food items, hygiene products and clothing on May 11. Four days later, the Bold Center contacted us for further support; therefore, we brought more supplies such as vegan soup, pasta, paper towels and can openers on May 18.

We hope our assistance and the generous contributions of many Canadians have helped the affected people get through this most difficult time to be able to resume their normal lives soon.
