Celebrating Mother’s Day at the Hsihu Center, Formosa

Formosa News Team (Originally in Chinese)

On this special occasion in May of Golden Year 13 (2016), the Hsihu Center’s green trees were adorned with colorful, glowing sphere-shaped ornaments of violet and carnation red, brimming over with the feelings of warmth and gratitude as well as creating a cheerful atmosphere everywhere. In the afternoon, nearly 3,800 of our Association members and guests from Australia, China, Formosa, India, Korea, Macau, Singapore and the United States gathered at the Forest Meditation Hall to celebrate Supreme Master Ching Hai’s birthday and Mother’s Day.

To start the festivities, the host shared a greeting card made for Master on behalf of our Formosan Association members, followed by a series of superb and wonderful performances.

The first performers on stage were two Diamond Dharma guardians bearing incense burners and guiding a group of goddesses, portrayed by our Association members from Miaoli, descending from Heaven to Earth. Accompanied by celestial music, the goddesses then danced as if they could lead the audience into a celestial, holy sphere.

Next, an Association member from Taipei performed the song “Amoura Graffiti” to the music of a Chinese zither, expressing the love between Master and disciples, and the familial bond between baby swans and their parents. This was followed by one of our Association members singing “Mommy, Please Take Care!” in Taiwanese Hokkien, and a Tai Chi Kung Fu Fan demonstration by an Association member from Changhua, Formosa.

Subsequent performances included an Australian Association member singing her original song “Return! We Are Grateful,” which thanks Master for awakening our souls; an Association member from Taipei, Formosa performing the “Fantastic Fan Dance for Happy Festival” to wish Master and all other mothers a happy Mother’s Day; an Association member from Tainan, Formosa performing “Sleeves Dream” on the Chinese zither, allowing the audience to imagine the beautiful movements of the Chinese sleeves dance; two Association members from Taipei performing Master’s exquisite song “On the Riverbank” on piano and violin, which expressed our longing for Master; a performance on the Irish tin whistle that captured the audience members’ hearts, transporting them to the leisurely life of the countryside; and an Association member from Taoyuan, Formosa performing Master’s timeless song “I Will Forever Love You” on guitar.

Other Association members from various countries also presented spectacular performances, such as “A Song Dedicated to Mothers,” the spiritual poem “I Have Overcome All Obstacles,” and the act “The Interruption of a Dream” from the Kunqu opera “The Peony Pavilion,” written by Tang Xianzu in the Ming Dynasty.

At the end of the show, all the performers sang “Mother, You Are Great” to thank God and Master for the blessing that enables us to walk firmly on the spiritual path, practice the Quan Yin Method, and become brighter, happier, and closer to God each day.

Finally, after sharing Master’s vegan birthday cakes, our Association members and guests bid farewell to the divine temple of Hsihu with contented hearts, and wished Master a happy Mother’s Day.
