Supreme Master Ching Hai offered respectful congratulations and best wishes in a letter sent to the Honorable Narendra Modi, who was elected Prime Minister of India on May 16, Golden Year 11 (2014).
Prime Minister Modi, a vegetarian, has lived his life in service to India and with compassion and respect to all brethren, human and animal. He has pledged to focus on trade, development, healthcare, and inclusivity — making affordable homes and better lives for the disadvantaged of India, the world’s largest democracy and one of our Earth’s most abundant and extraordinary spiritual reservoirs.
In his inaugural victory speech, Prime Minister Modi spread a message of love, hope, tolerance, diversity and revitalization, stating that “India’s social differences will come together and make a flag, just like different threads come together to weave a cloth…, a new foundation has been laid and will build a new shining India in the coming days.” He has so far visited 18 countries while in office and has attracted foreign investment to India, an indicator of future job creation and economic growth.
