Promoting the Peaceful Vegan Diet at National Taiwan University

Taipei, Formosa News Team (Originally in Chinese)

Under the influence of extreme climate conditions, natural disasters have been occurring all over the world. Formosa is also facing the biggest drought in 68 years. People have been awakened to the fact that to sustain the environment, not only should we care for it and conserve it, but we should also adopt the vegan diet – the most effective way to halt the disastrous consequences of climate change and to ensure the survival of earthlings.

With the life of all beings in mind, our Association members who are also part of the Light and Sound Association of the National Taiwan University (NTU) in Taipei promoted the vegan diet on the campus during the anniversary of the university in November, Golden Year 11 (2014), and the Azalea Festival in March, Golden Year 12 (2015). We offered delicious vegan meals, distributed flyers and conducted interesting games, including veggie question and answer contests with prizes, to help the faculty, students and nearby residents know more about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. We advised the participants to adopt the healthy vegan diet for peace, and also to share the knowledge of its benefits with their family and friends in order to lessen the impact of global warming and minimize natural disasters.

Many students told us that they had already been eating more vegan food for health reasons and to protect the Earth. They also said they are willing to choose more vegan options if available.

At our booth, we displayed Master’s various publications and played The Real Love, a musical based on Master’s inspiring life and exquisite poetry. Our Association members in the undergraduate program at NTU sang the elegant and moving songs in the musical together. Many stopped to listen, and the students from the next booth even joined our singing by reading the subtitles. Through introducing The Real Love, more people came to know more about Master’s teachings and the Quan Yin Method. Amazingly, when we became tired, we felt recharged as soon as we started to sing along with the songs in the musical.

Our deep gratitude for Master’s blessing during these events at National Taiwan University. We pray all humans will see the importance of adopting the vegan diet now to protect all precious life on our glorious planet.
