The Supreme Master Ching Hai

Mindful of Master’s loving request to help the homeless, with funds obtainable for reimbursement, our Association members from the Costa Rica Center sought to ease the plight of those sleeping on the streets during the cold nights.
With our Association members’ contribution of US$805, we purchased 200 blankets, material for clothing, and knitted garments and shawls which our relief team began distributing on December 19, 2012. The blankets and other items were handed out together with cookies, climate change information and a large dose of loving kindness. The recipients, many of whom were sleeping in plastic bags and cardboard cartons, were sincerely grateful.
God truly dwells in the hearts of his children. It was deeply moving for us to see that despite their vulnerable situation, the people we met were also thinking of others. For example, on one occasion a young boy called out for us to go to a nearby site because he knew there were more individuals there in need of blankets. Another instance was when we delivered blankets and cookies. The first thing the kind people did who received them was to offer the cookies to their dog companions.

Throughout the relief operation, team members paid for their own transportation, food and accommodations.
