Singola is a village located in the Poonch District of Azad Kashmir, Pakistan. The rising cost of living has been making it more challenging for the people to afford education, medical treatment and other services. What is more, this village was affected by severe flooding and landslides in March 2016.
It came to the attention of our Association members in India that many families in Singola Village could not afford to buy proper school outfits for their children. In addition, as the only water source for the villagers is the natural water from high ground, the villagers were in need of supply lines and storage and distribution tanks to receive water near their homes.
Upon learning the plight of the village people, Supreme Master Ching Hai generously provided a US$3,760 fund, which allowed our Indian Association members to arrange for a local person to bring help to Singola Village in May and June 2016. Through the kind assistance of the local person, the best quality school shoes and uniforms were purchased and distributed to over 100 students who are either orphans or from disadvantaged families in various schools.
One large water storage and distribution tank was constructed in Kalson Ward in Singola and will benefit over 250 families. The land on which it is located was donated by a villager.
All the local people were very thankful and highly appreciative of the loving support provided by Supreme Master Ching Hai during their difficult time.
