By China Relief Team (Originally in Chinese)
On April 5, 2013, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake rocked Yongshan County, Zhaotong City, in Yunnan Province, China. With the epicenter in Wuji Township, the quake destroyed the water and electricity systems as well as the roads in many areas.
Thanks to Master’s divine love and instructions, our Yunnan Association relief team went to Zhaotong City to provide disaster assistance on April 22. On the following day we arrived in Yongshan County and purchased rice and vegetable oil according to the needs of the affected people. On the morning of April 25 we went to Wuji Township, distributed relief items along the way and provided RMB 500 to families facing extreme difficulties. Since the senior citizens who are alone or disabled were already relocated to the Yongshan Central Retirement Home, we contributed RMB 5,000 to the Home to help them with facility improvements, as was recommended by the Civil Affairs Bureau of Yongshan County. Our Association members contributed the relief supplies and funds totaling RMB 47,640, with reimbursements available from Master.
In each affected area we visited, the villagers rejoiced and were moved to tears. Thanks to God’s blessing, we were able to complete our disaster relief work smoothly.
