As the weather was getting cold and the temperature dropped to the low 40s Fahrenheit, our San Francisco Association members thought of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s instruction to share our love and care with those less fortunate. Therefore, on December 9, 2016, with the cooperation of one of our Association members who owned a vegan restaurant, we served a delicious and healthy vegan meal to the homeless people at a church, and gave them sleeping bags and fleece jackets as well.
This church is open every day to those who are homeless or elderly for food and prayer services. After a prayer led by the pastor, Reverend Joseph Jones from the Alpha Omega Worship Center, our guests enjoyed a sumptuous vegan feast including fried rice, spring rolls, squash soup, fruit and lemonade. Following the meal, in a warm and peaceful atmosphere, they formed a line to receive a gift of either a sleeping bag or a fleece jacket. We also shared a Loving the Silent Tears DVD set and vegan chocolates with the pastor who suggested that we collaborate again next year.
