Loving Winter Support in Northern Âu Lạc

Beginning in early December 2012 the northern provinces of Âu Lạc were struck by one of the harshest winters the region had experienced in recent times. Upon hearing of the situation, Supreme Master Ching Hai lovingly contributed US$5,000 and asked that our local Association members extend help to those most affected. In addition, our Association member contributed US$3,567 to the relief fund.

Undeterred by freezing temperatures, long travel times, hazardous, rugged roads, and dense fog, our relief team then began the long, difficult journey to the affected provinces in late December.

With Supreme Master Ching Hai’s funds we purchased 507 blankets, 505 warm jackets, 95 pairs of jeans, 17 boxes of seasoning, 16 boxes of cooking oil, 30 boxes of rice cakes, 12 bags of sugar and 32 boxes of soya sauce, which were packed into 450 relief packages. Over a two-week period, our team distributed the items to residents of Thuần Châu District in Sơn La Province, Điện Biên Đông Township in Điện Biên, Đầm Hà District, Quảng Ninh Province and Nậm Dịch Village in Hà Giang Province. In addition to the food, a monetary gift of VNĐ 12,000,000 (US$577) was given to the people of the Điện Biên Đông Township.

Eager, joyful faces greeted our relief team on their arrival in the townships and villages, and upon receiving the gifts the people were deeply touched, expressing their sincere appreciation to Supreme Master Ching Hai. They also wished Her good health so that She might continue Her work of assisting those in need.

Our relief team too felt grateful to Her for Her compassion and sympathy and for giving them the chance to bring God’s warmth and love to the less fortunate.
