Following Supreme Master Ching Hai’s compassionate instructions to bring warmth to those in need in the winter, a team of our Association members from the Houston Center helped disadvantaged individuals in Texas with the assistance of Master’s caring contribution of US$2,000 along with US$5,121 contributed by the Houston Center.
We visited the Star of Hope homeless shelter in downtown Houston, Texas, USA on December 16, 2012. There we shared hot vegan meals and 300 gift packages with the residents. The packages were filled with items to protect against the harsh winter weather including sleeping bags, socks and warm clothing.
On December 29, 2012, we continued the Christmas relief work with a visit to homeless citizens of Conroe, Texas, where we distributed 110 gift packages containing sleeping bags, towels, socks and vegan meals.
We purchased more supplies in January 2013 and traveled to Laredo, Texas, where we distributed another 120 gift packages and vegan meals to the city’s most vulnerable residents.
In addition, in Austin, Texas our Association members contributed 20 blankets and 40 sleeping bags to those in need.
Our relief team is deeply grateful to Supreme Master Ching Hai for Her concern about the well-being of the people of Texas, and we pray for God’s blessings upon all those experiencing hardship during the cold winter months.
