By Yunnan Relief Team, Mainland China (Originally in Chinese)
Guizhou Province in southwestern China was hit with heavy rains and flooding affecting 85,000 people in July 2016. Following Master’s loving instructions, our Yunnan Association members started a relief effort to help those in need. At the end of July, our team of three members traveled to Lianghekou Village of Aozhai Township, Wanshan District in Tongren City, the most affected disaster area. With Master’s love, as well as CNY 90,000 contributed by Master and CNY 10,000 contributed by our Association members, we distributed aid to the victims.
First, we contacted the local Civil Affairs Bureau, and were very thankful for the tremendous help we received from them. The deputy director of the bureau picked us up at the train station, and drove us to the bureau to discuss the relief work. After careful investigation, we determined what were the relief items the victims needed most. We kindly asked the bureau to help us purchase the best quality rice and oil at the lowest price. The bureau recommended a facility that processes the items and immediately arranged a driver for us so we could see the plant.
At the facility, which was located in a remote place that took one and one-half hours to reach, the rice was processed in a very clean and natural environment. The rice was freshly minted from the grain, and the cooking oil was freshly made as well. After learning the rice and cooking oil would be used for relief work, the owner gave us the best price, and delivered the supplies to the disaster area free of charge. Everything went amazingly smoothly. We know it is because of God’s arrangement and loving care.
When the flood victims saw us, their faces lit up with joy. Although in a very difficult condition, they still showed their love and gratitude through their smiles, and we were very touched. During the relief effort, we also provided a total of CNY 9,380 in cash contributions to 27 affected households.
All the relief team members felt very fortunate that we had such an opportunity to be the tools of God and to participate in this noble relief work to bring God’s love to those who were in need. May all those affected by the flood be blessed with a quick recovery so they may resume their normal lives soon.
