By Syria Relief Team (Originally in Arabic)
Following Supreme Master Ching Hai’s loving advice to help people in need, in March 2016, one of our local Association members distributed vegan food and daily necessities to displaced families in Sweida, a city in southwestern Syria. The relief effort was funded using US$4,430 contributed by our Korean Association members.
On March 13, our local Association member began working with volunteers from a Syrian charity organization and distributed vegan food gift bags to 602 disadvantaged families in Sweida over the course of a week. Each bag contained cooking oil, bulgur, tomato paste, beans, lentils, rice and pasta. She thanked the volunteers for their help and support, and the volunteers expressed appreciation for Master’s compassion and care.
On March 25, our Association member visited two displaced families in Sweida. Each family had six children being raised by their mother. They both lived in small houses with only one room and a kitchen. Our Association member brought them much-needed carpets, blankets and kitchen supplies such as pots, cups, plates etc. She brought the required medication for one of the families whose daughter is living with epilepsy. The fund was also used to assist in paying rent for their homes. Both families were very grateful for the assistance.
