Shaanxi Province
Following Supreme Master Ching Hai’s loving example, from July 2013 to April 2014, our Association members from the city of Xi’an collaborated with Xi’an Small Animal Protection Association to rescue approximately 2,000 dogs. Our Association members also donated RMB 166,447 to the Animal Protection Association. Other contributions we made included 10 drinking bowls for dogs for an animal shelter, and 10 bottles of saline water for a rescue shelter. In addition, we donated blankets and other needed items for the dog shelter in the city of Weinan in Shaanxi Province to keep our canine friends warm before winter came. We also purchased a washing machine for the shelter.
Xi’an Small Animal Protection Association staff expressed their gratitude by promising to rescue more dogs and to take good care of them. They regularly visit the families that adopted dogs, helping to encourage the caregivers. Our Association members also thanked the staff of the Animal Protection Association for their continuous noble and compassionate work in rescuing and taking good care of our homeless canine friends over the years.
Yunnan Province
Continuing our efforts to always help those in need as instructed by Master, upon request from the Kunming Animal Shelter in Yunnan Province, from May to July 2014, our Association members from Yunnan donated 245 bags of rice and 145 bottles of vegetable oil to Auntie Kang’s Stray Dog Shelter, CheJiaBi Animal Shelter, and Foster Mother Stray Dogs Home. About 500 dogs benefited.
On September 13, 2014, we helped relocate approximately 40 dogs to Auntie Kang’s Stray Dog Shelter and Foster Mother Stray Dogs Home. Ms. Luo of Kunming City was the foster caregiver of these friendly canines. We also donated RMB 3,000 together with rice and vegetable oil to each of the animal shelters to assist with the care of the dogs. In November 2014, we purchased more rice and vegetable oil for the dogs. The shop where we purchased the items would make the delivery when the shelters needed the goods. In addition, a vegan restaurant opened by our Association members donated imported vegan cat and dog food to the animal shelters and to people with animal companions who were in need.
Despite poor health and low income, Ms. Luo, who was the foster caregiver of the previously mentioned 40 dogs, has been taking care of stray dogs for many years. We gave her RMB 5,000 for her medical treatment. In order to make her feel at ease to continue her treatment, we bought medicine especially for her rheumatoid arthritis and a dining card for a vegan restaurant. Ms. Luo and her daughter were invited to dine in the vegan restaurant. There they learned about the benefits of a plant-based diet. Both of them were very touched by God’s love, and asked us to introduce the teachings of Supreme Master Ching Hai to them. The daughter felt Master’s love and saw light too.
In early July 2014 in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, we awarded two retired ladies for their good deeds, feeding the stray dogs and cats every day, with RMB 2,000 to each of them. For many years, these two ladies traveled between communities, streets, markets and so on to feed around 20 stray dogs and many cats every day, regardless of the weather. We also donated RMB 7,000 to three low-income families in Kunming City, Yunnan Province to help them overcome difficult times.
During July 2013 to November 2014, our Association members distributed a total of RMB 42,550 in loving cash contributions for food and medical assistance to disadvantaged individuals and to people and organizations providing care for animal friends.
