By India Relief Team (Originally in English)
The 2015 temperatures in India rose to the highest level in the last two decades, with some areas reaching 48.0 degrees Celsius (118.4 degrees Fahrenheit). The extremely hot weather claimed more than 2,500 lives, with the hardest hit region being the South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Our local Association members, following Supreme Master Ching Hai’s caring instruction to offer immediate relief to those in need, formed a relief team and purchased relief items using US$9,762 of Master’s relief fund.
On June 3, our Indian Association members bought a supply of black raisins, which due to their high fructose content are a rich source of energy; in addition, raisins are said to have a cooling effect on the body. We also bought soy milk, water, rice, wheat flour, cooking oil and other supplies, and distributed them to people in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and in the region of Delhi, India’s capital.
As always, when seeking guidance during our relief work, we felt led by divine beings to the right local people, who helped us go to the most desperate residents of remote areas and also assisted us in distributing relief materials. While in the city of Deverkonda in Telangana, we were blessed with precious rain while delivering food and slippers, as if God was pleased with the spirit of sharing.
