In response to Supreme Master Ching Hai’s caring instruction to help those less fortunate, on January 2, 2016, our Association members from the Bangkok, Thailand Center lovingly prepared a vegan lunch in celebration of the New Year for the 556 homeless people at the Nonthaburi Reception Home for the Disadvantaged in Nonthaburi.
We played the musical Loving the Silent Tears before lunch, and served everyone vegan cake and tea. Most people came to the dining hall to enjoy the food, while those who were ill or living with a disability were served in their rooms. All enjoyed the vegan food very much, with many people coming back for seconds. They thanked us for offering them such a wonderful and delicious meal.
At the end of our visit, the staff at the shelter asked us if we could help out with some much-needed daily items, as the shelter was short on funds. We readily agreed. According to their request, our Association members contributed clothing as well as a fund to purchase items such as rice, medicine, lotion, laundry detergent and incontinence supplies. All were delivered to the shelter on February 13. In response, the shelter sent us letters of appreciation.
