Helping Syrian Refugee Families in Lebanon

Following the ongoing refugee crisis, Supreme Master Ching Hai, out of deep concern, instructed our Association members to provide aid and assistance to those in need. With US$8,427 contributed by our Association members in China, Singapore and the United Kingdom, one of our members in Lebanon was able to provide timely assistance to the Syrian refugees in Lebanon from November 26 to December 24, 2015.

In Aley District close to Beirut where the temperature is very cold in winter, we provided heaters, diesel fuel and blankets to refugee families who were most in need. In Zahlé, the second largest city in Lebanon, we distributed 40 liters of heating diesel fuel to each of the 210 families living in tents in the Bekaa area according to their request.

We also helped pay for the medical treatment for those refugees in need of immediate care. With the kind assistance of our volunteering Association member, an elderly man in the city of Sidon received a much-needed eye surgery in a hospital, a four-year-old boy with a disability since birth in Aley District had his condition improved after being treated, and an elderly man who has a disability with his legs was able to purchase an electric chair in a good condition so that he could continue selling tissue paper on the street to support his family in the city of Tripoli. We also paid for prescription medications for the refugees who suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and other diseases.

During the relief work, we shared with the refugees the benefits of the vegan diet for their health and for the planet, and distributed Arabic versions of Master’s book From Crisis to Peace – The Organic Vegan Way is the Answer.
