In June 2016, many areas in Australia were inundated with high levels of rain that resulted in flooding. Many people were evacuated from their homes. Fortunately, the Australian Government provided monetary relief to those affected, and the State Emergency Service participated in rescue work.
Remembering our vulnerable animal friends and Supreme Master Ching Hai’s instruction to help those in need, our Sydney Association members contributed AUD 2,000 to A Place of Peace animal sanctuary in New South Wales. Animal communicator Ms. Billie Dean and her vegan family manage the sanctuary. It is home to 450 farm animals including 80 cows, 250 sheep, horses, goats, dogs, cats and other four-legged friends who are lovingly cared for.
Upon learning that they would be receiving the funds, Ms. Dean expressed her thanks in a letter, saying, “This past winter was particularly bad because of the dry, hot autumn weather contributing to the lack of winter grass. So as you can imagine, we were thrilled to have some support from your group, enabling us to keep the beloveds fed. In the world of compassion, it is wonderful to feel solidarity from others, and kindness ripples. We can’t thank you enough!”
Thank you, Ms. Billie Read, for all of your loving efforts to help our precious animal friends! Heaven’s blessings to you and all those at A Place of Peace.
