On October 13, 2016, the deeply beloved monarch of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, left this mortal life accompanied by the heartfelt prayers of his loyal people. Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States on December 5, 1927, His Majesty spent his childhood in both Thailand and Europe. He received his primary education in Switzerland and returned to Thailand in 1945. His Majesty, often called the “People’s King,” ascended the throne in 1946 and at the age of 88, following a seven-decade rule, was the world’s longest reigning monarch.

His Majesty had an essential role in promoting peace and harmony in Thailand. Despite political transitions, Thailand has remained a unified nation where the citizens enjoy a growing prosperity and social stability. Indeed, many people in Thailand adored and loved him as if he was their own father.

Supreme Master Ching Hai expressed Her deepest condolences to the Royal Family of the greatly revered King of Thailand, His Majesty Bhumibol Adulyadej, in the letter above.
