Colombian Congress gives priority to well-being of wild animals

Under a bill approved in June 2013, circuses must phase out entertainment using elephants, lions, bears, tigers, monkeys and other wild animals. House of Representatives speaker Augusto Posada, who introduced the measure, noted the significance of the new law saying “…as humans we can respect the status and dignity of other species.” Other South American countries with similar protective laws for exotic animals in circus acts, include Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Peru.

Bravo Colombia for upholding  the dignity of wild animals!
